1972 – On the production series the squared-off cooling fans were only introduced in 1973 with the last model on the list, before Moto Morini decided to gamble everything on the new road-going two cylinder 350cc. This also was designed by the engineer Franco Lambertini in 1970.
From the fifth and last model a ‘soft’ version was also created known as the ‘Country’ and very similar aesthetically to the regularity trials version but not intended for competition use.
The resemblance to the competition version has given rise to the production of copies which undoubtedly has not helped the market.

1981 – The Morini designed by Franco Lambertini, a four stroke two cylinder 72° ‘V’ 350cc was successively enlarged to 500cc and showed its versatility. Even if not in a direct and continuous manner, the prestigious Bologna manufacturer returned to the world of racing as on the occasion of the Elba island six days trial (5th – 10th October) where three beautiful Morinis participated, prepared by the Valentini team and ridden by Massimiliano Valentini, nr.362, Nardo Noè, nr.365, and Marco Elmi, nr.367.
The team were registered as an industry (factory) team and performed well – Valentini came third in his class and Noè twelfth.
The two cylinder engine was also used by the Enduro Camel and Canguro (Kangaroo) teams as well as the custom Excalibur 350 and 500.

Let’s end with some numbers:
The first three series (Ronzani frames, 1st, 2nd and 3rd types) carry the letter ‘E’ before the frame number which has five numbers; comparing the various frame numbers we can calculate a production of some 200 examples of the type 1 and a double/triple number for each of the other two series.
From the ‘Testa Piatta’ versions type 4, six official models were created and these were entrusted to the ‘Fiamme Gialle’ team (Yellow Flames) which used them at the ISDT trial on the Isle of Man in 1971 apart from other kits used to transform the type 3.
The last series (type 5, Verlicchi frame) used the letter ‘U’ before the frame number; we can assume a rather modest production comparing the numbers of around 2 – 300 examples.
The estimate is exactly that, but realistic.
