The team itself was not very successful, but SWM won three golden medals thanks to Mercatelli, Bernini and Laureati and a silver medal thanks to Brissoni.
In middle of this year, there ware also big market news, a new version was introduced to the press; it was the synthesis of a-years testing and experiments and happened just when the factory was able to produce under full sail.
The differences from the previous production consisted in many changes, for example the two connection tubes under the upper vertical rod of the frame.
The filter box had a new shape so the sparkling guard knee-cap became useless and was thus removed, also the back anchorages of the engine were different, in fact they were soldered to two breasts and the front ones were made of a big U-shaped plate.
All the components remained unchanged apart from the new release of the 6 gear Sachs engine which powered an electronic ignition.
On this occasion, also the aesthetical design was improved, a new front mudguard with softener lines and a wrapping shape while the back mudguard was softened in the outline too; the frame was silver-coloured and the tank was painted in three different colours according to the capacity (50 cc was green, 100 cc was red, 125cc was blue). All these details were a real challenge against the competitors and friends KTM.

The marketing version too was traded into two different versions according to the prices.
The cheapest version was called Regolarità (Off-road), while the most racing and expensive one was called Six Days.
The trade success came immediately and the year ended with a record production which reached the 2.000 units (both Regolarità and Cross), divided into 522 50 cc models, 187 100cc models and 880 125cc models.
Since the very beginning SWM tried to offer a high standard production to its public, as a matter of fact the improvements and changes tested by the riders during the competitions were applied to the production as soon as possible.
This is the reason why the evolution was even and different models followed without any continuity so it is difficult to list them year by year and there is no wonder that you might bump into disagreeing details depending on the different points of view.
The speediness of its development was likely to be at the base of such a fast ranking achievements, as a matter of fact SWM was immediately one of the leading players, and was able to keep its placements also for years to come.
The excellent season results were crowned by an important sports achievement, which established SWM winning image:
Afro Rustigni won the Cross Italian Championship in the 125 cc class.
