1951 – In 1951, the F.M. I. (Italian Bikers Federation) gave birth to the “Endurance Trophy” and although it was reserved Factory Teams, it established solid basis for the real Italian Endurance Championship, which officially started in 1954.
Ducati was not very lucky in this competition, neither during the Six Days which was held in Varese, where Ugo Tamarozzi won the bronze medal with his the brand new bike.

1952 – The following year other three Ducati 75 distinguished themselves during the Valli Bergamasche (Bergamo Valleys competition) held on the 1st and 2nd of June. The racers were: Ettore Miani, 12th, Glauco Zitelli 19th and Franco Farnè, 22nd.
During the second edition of the “Endurance Trophy”, Ducati reached the stand, although it ranked 3rd.
The Cruiser, a 175cc scooter, is worth mentioning when considering the market, it was equipped with futuristic accessories like the electrical starting and the automatic drive.

1953 – In 1953 Ducati presented a more essential, easier, cheaper but reliable bike called 98, this bike lined up at all important competitions.
It ranked 3rd at the Third Endurance Trophy, as it did in the previous year, but considering the large number of participants, it was a very good result.

1954 – 1954 was a very important year to Ducati, as a matter of fact the management decided to increase the effort and invest on competitions.

The races on road held soon after the war became an important key to introduce the models to the great public and Ducati had played a leading role in this world rich in appeal and competition since the very beginning.
Fabio Taglioni, the myth “Doctor T”, was appointed to manage the project department.
Thanks to its genial “inventions”, which range from the lattice frame to the use of the desmodronic system, he shaped the entire production for many years to follow and the myth of Ducati brand, as winning and solid brand worldwide, was born mainly thanks to him.
Engineer Taglioni was helped by two valid mates, he brought up with his trainings, Gian Luigi Mengoli and Massimo Bordi.
